Runway Officially Ripped!

The students of U.I.S. (University of Illinois Springfield) made "Ripping The Runway" look easy. From the models, to the designs, to DJ Dryft keeping it all the way live, the entire event was simply… well put together. All of the efforts of those involved didn't go to waste as the nearly packed Student Life Building gymnasium was treated to a show.

The wide range of models of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities only added a real-world feel to the entire event. While showcasing everything from traditional garb of lands far away, current trends in urban couture, high end evening wear, a swim wear collection, and even the latest in U.I.S. bookstore fashions Rip the Runway was more than successful in making the world of fashion both exciting and accessible.

Anchored by the electronic dance music and hip hop blends of the ever excited, DJ Dryft the fashion show had the feel of a party. To my surprise I wasn't the only one that felt in the mood to cut a rug as student groups performed intricate dance and step routines.

Just when I thought the show couldn't get any better, Ohio based hip hop group Fly.Union hit the stage. Performing with great energy the trio ran through a gamut of music that kept the small crowd locked in.

Unfortunately due to some babysitting complications I could't remain for the entire show. From top to bottom it would be hard to find a fashion show with more style.
