217hiphop.com Exclusive Interview w/ Xtortion Tha Don!

On the heels of Xtortion The Don's latest release 217hiphop.com had a chance to catch up with the 217 rap vet and see what he had to say about everything from the game as it is now to his dream collaboration. Check out what he had to say.

217hiphop.com: What's good bro, been a min since we spoke. Hows the movement been going?

X: The movement is great, the music is flowin plus new movies are coming, this camp is staying busy!!!
217hiphop.com: After the success of "Seriously Trippin" and the sequel how has your life changed if at all?
X:Honestly after the movie I've become much more known. I was known for music but now I'm seen as an actor too, which in itself is completely surreal.

217hiphop.com: Can we expect any more movie/film projects from the AMG/Blackhood banner?
X:Oh yes, we got a new comedy coming starring myself, and Martin Miller entitled Dysfunktional Tendencies. This shit is gonna be ridiculously funny!!
217hiphop.com: Unfortunately due to some schedule conflicts 217hiphop.com wasn't present at the "POME 4" Release party. We did however see some of the photos and it looked turnt. How did that turn out?
X:It was a great turnout for the release party. I have some great fans who show support for everything I do, and to them i am entirely grateful!! They are the ones who give me the will to make this music
217hiphop.com:"P.O.M.E. 4" is what you're calling the final in the series, after what most people would consider some of your best work, what's next?
X:"Smoke In The City" is next, my debut album. I recorded it and "P.O.M.E. 4" at the same time.To be honest I'm very proud of the album. I put a lot into it and people will be able to hear that in the music. After the album release I plan to release an EP entitled "The Playboy Diaries" geared toward the ladies
217hiphop.com: Who are some of the artists we should expect to hear on the coming project?
X: I've got Woods G, Jus-Rio, Yatti (DJ DNY), and Ty Witty just to name a few.
217hiphop.com: Who is the one artists dead or alive that you would like to collaborate with?
X:Man, my favorite MC and motivation Biggie, I've loved his music since high school, and I'd love to just put a 16 with him.
217hiphop.com: With 2015 coming into the 4th quarter do you have any major moves coming to close out the year?
X:"Smoke In The City" may be coming before years end. It's not a for sure thing, but its a possibility. "P.O.M.E. 4" is a great release and I want to let that marinate and generate the anticipation for the album before I release it.
217hiphop.com: When's the next time The Don will be rocking the stage?
X: I'm coming back to the stage real soon. I had to take the time needed to work on two projects simultaneously, which is a tiresome process, but I feel as though both projects will not disappoint, so be looking for me to be performing again really soon.
217hiphop.com: Obviously you have been involved in the music scene both locally and nationally for some time. What would you say is the biggest change in trying to create and sell music?
X: The game has changed a lot since when I first started. It's all commercial now.The ability to rhyme is not as important as it once was! I myself am all about lyrics and wordplay, that's the era I came up in and how I've been influenced musically. I'm not knocking anyone's hustle, but just saying I take music seriously. It's my love, my passion, so its become harder for the lyrical MCs to get noticed, but that has not, nor will deter me from doing what I do.
217hiphop.com: Any shouts out?
X:I want to dedicate this mixtape to the memory of my parents Charlotte and Gabriel Owusu Sr. They are truly the reason I stay so focused and determined on making it. I'd like to give a shout out to my team; Split-P, Ozland Banks, Jus-Rio, E-Fresh. These are my niggas inside and out of this music thing, and a special shout to all my true supporters who have bought the music, came to shows, just supported every move Xtortion Tha Don has made. These individuals want a major deal for me more than I do and that is love, that i wholeheartedly appreciate.
